What is a personal representative?

A personal representative, sometimes called an executor, is the person appointed by the court to be in charge of the decedent’s assets, sign checks, gather property, and ultimately distribute that estate pursuant to the terms of the Will. The personal representative is the person entitled to manage and make decisions for the estate.
